Vt. Begins Offering Swine Flu Vaccine To All

Tuesday, 12/22/09 6:06am

- BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP)

The Vermont Health Department says it has enough swine flu vaccine for anyone over aged 6 months who would like to be vaccinated against the H1N1 flu.

Until Monday, vaccine had been limited to people considered at highest risk of complications: pregnant women, children aged 6 months to 24 years and people through age 64 with underlying medical conditions.

Health Commissioner Dr. Wendy Davis says the focus continues to be on vaccinating high-risk populations, but other people can be vaccinated as well.

As of Dec. 15, the state had received almost 180,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine, nearly half the state's allocation. More than 106,000 doses have been administered across the state.
