Dunne says next year's election will signal an important shift in Vermont politics.
(Dunne) "With that change will come a real fork in the road, one which can continue in the direction that we're currently going in. Or one that could move Vermont into the future by becoming a center for innovation and new economy jobs, by becoming a leader in renewable energy development, and by leading the rest of the country taking on the complex issues of health care reform."
(Host) Dunne says he thinks the crowded Democratic primary field should benefit the eventual winner.
That's because he believes the primary will give the Democrats a better chance to get their message out to voters.
Besides Dunne, state Senators Doug Racine and Susan Bartlett and Secretary of State Deb Markowitz are in the Democratic race. Senator Peter Shumlin is expected to join the field.
Lieutenant Governor Brian Dubie is the only Republican who's gotten into the race to succeed Governor Jim Douglas, who plans to retire.
