VT Company Poised To Build Electronics Factory
Tuesday, 10/27/09 8:10am
A Barre electronics manufacturer is poised to begin construction on a 52,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which is expected to create 150 new jobs.
On Monday, the District 5 Environmental Commission issued a land-use permit for SBE Inc., to build the plant in the Wilson Industrial Park.
The only remaining hurdle is permission from the town's Development Review Board. The board is expected to approve the project on Wednesday.
SBE representative Brad Gordon says it's hoped construction can begin Nov. 16, although it could be delayed until spring.
The Barre Times Argus says the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will be capable of producing 100,000 capacitors a year.
