Interview: Christina Asquith on "Sisters In War"
Tuesday, 10/13/09 4:50pm

In 2003, journalist Christina Asquith traveled to Baghdad, and spent two years reporting on the Iraq war.
As the conditions for journalists deteriorated, Asquith hid with an Iraqi family, and was given a close-up look at how the war affected their lives.
Asquith recounts this time period in a new book, "Sisters In War", published by Random House Books. It follows the experiences of four women...two Iraqi sisters, one U.S. soldier and a U.S aid worker.
Their stories offer a glimpse into the choices and challenges women face in Iraq.
Christina Asquith teaches about women in Islam at the University of Vermont. She spoke with VPR's Neal Charnoff.
Asquith's scheduled appearances:
Oct 13th, 7:00 pm Northshire bookstore, Main street, Manchester Center
Oct 16th, 1:30, Godnick Adult Center, Rutland
Oct 18th, 12:30 pm Unitarian Church, 152 Pearl Street, Burlington
Nov 10th, Stowe Library, 1:30 pm
Nov. 11 at 1 PM, in Noble Lounge on the campus of the Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier
