NH offering training on mental health problems
Tuesday, 10/13/09 8:09am
New Hampshire health officials say in response to an increase in mental health problems among servicemen and women, the state is hosting a training session for 175 participants.
The training for mental health professionals at Tuesday's conference in Nashua is focusing on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Featured speakers included Dr. Matthew Friedman, director of the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Dr. Thomas McAllister, psychiatry professor at Dartmouth Medical School.
Health officials say as the New Hampshire National Guard prepares next year for its largest deployment in its history, this conference will help ensure that upon returning from service, veterans will have access to specially trained mental health professionals.
