The price of home heating oil in Vermont is substantially lower now than it was at this time last year.
The Vermont Public Service Department says the average price of a gallon of oil was $2.34 last month.
That's almost 50 percent less than July 2008 when the price vaulted over four dollars a gallon.
Prices of other fuels also have plummeted compared to last year. Propane sold last month for $2.47 - 25 percent lower than 2008. Gasoline averaged $2.61 in July, down from $4.09 a year earlier.
