VT Edition: Grandparents raising grandchildren

Experts say as many as 6,000 Vermont children are being raised by relatives, most commonly grandparents. Lynn Granger is the coordinator for Vermont Kin as Parents, a grass roots network of "kinship families" who come together for support. Brenda Hamlin of Essex and her husband are raising a niece and three grandchildren, as well as their teenage daughter. They speak with VPR's Jane Lindholm about the challenges and the resources available to help those raising grandchildren.
