Public hearing set for Vermont Yankee permit
Monday, 04/27/09 6:34am
The public will get a chance to either speak out against or in favor of a plan to extend a Vermont nuclear power plant's operating permit.
The public hearing will be Thursday at the Whittemore Theater at Marlboro College.
Vermont Yankee needs a certificate of public good to operate past the 2012 expiration date of its current license. It must also get the backing from the state Legislature.
The Legislature is simultaneously reviewing the plant's request.
Louisiana-based plant owner Entergy Corp. wants to continue operating through 2032.
