Interview: Arnold Kling on health care reform

Tuesday, 04/21/09

Mitch Wertlieb - Colchester, VT

Two nationally known health care policy thinkers will be in Vermont this week. And they'll be engaging in a debate organized by the Janus forum at UVM. The point of disagreement: whether or not single payer health care is the best way to fix what ails the American health care system.

Economist Arnold Kling agrees the current system is unsustainable, but says single payer is not the answer. Kling is an adjunct scholar with the Cato Institute, and he recently wrote the book "Crisis of Abundance: Rethinking How We Pay for Health Care."

Kling says one thing's for sure: big changes in health care are inevitable.
