Fat Toad Farm is a family operation, and a good example of a backyard farm that grew into a full-time operation. Step-dad Steve Reid, mom Judith Irving and daughters Calley and Josie Hastings run the farm. As their interest in raising animals grew, Calley Hastings explains they needed to make a decision and how dedicated they were to raising animals:

The family raises some pigs and other animals, but their main interest is goats: they sell goat's milk, goat cheese, and caramel. VPR's Jane Lindholm visited Fat Toad Farm and talked to Calley Hastings and her mom Judith Irving to learn more:
