Sounds of 2008: Brooke Bennett
(Host) In our Sounds of 2008 series this month, we're listening back to what made news over the past year.
In late June and early July, the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl from Braintree gripped the state.
At first police believed Brooke Bennett had been picked up by a stranger. They searched places where reports said she was last seen.
But after a week, state police director Colonel James Baker reported the grim news.
(Baker) "Good evening. It's with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I announce we have located what we believe to be the remains of Brooke Bennett."
(Host) And later that day, Brooke's uncle, Michael Jacques, was arrested and charged with her kidnapping and ultimately her death.
He's being held while he awaits trail.
