The Opera Company of Middlebury begins its run of the Italian opera "La Boheme" tonight. The Puccini opera is set in Paris of the 1830s, and tells the tragedy of two lovers beset by poverty and illness.
This weekend, listeners to VPR Classical were treated to a preview of "La Boheme" with soprano Suzanne Merrill playing the role of Mimi, and tenor Richard Furman playing Rodolfo. Here's an excerpt from the end of Act 1, when Mimi and Rodolfo have just met, and it's love at first sight:
