Today the Chinese athlete and NBA star Yao Ming carried the Olympic torch through Tianenmen Gate in Beijing, as the torch nears its final destination at the official start of the games on Friday. Many of us will be watching the events on TV, particularly when Norwich native Andrew Wheating takes to the track in the 800 meters.
But he's not the only local participating in the games. Kristine Karlson is a family medicine and sports medicine physician at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. And she's a team physician for the U.S. rowing, canoe/kayak and triathlon squads. Dr. Kristine Karlson talks with VPR's Jane Lindholm, from China.
