VT Edition: Jim Grundy & Nick Emlen on using solar power in Vermont
Wednesday, 07/16/08 1:46pm and 1:46pm
High fuel prices are causing many people to take a new look at using solar panels for domestic hot water. And new incentives for generating electricity from the sun are sparking greater interest in photovoltaics. Jim Grundy owns Elemental Energy, Inc. and is a founding member of Renewable Energy Vermont. Nick Emlen, of Calais, lives with a grid-tied solar system. They spoke with VPR's Jane Lindholm about the economics and the practicality of using solar power in our region and what it's like to live off the grid.
