Marlboro College is joining a growing number of colleges and universities around that country that are making the submission of SAT or ACT scores optional for applicants.
The 330-student school in southern Vermont says it still welcomes the submission of scores from students who think they will strengthen their application, but won't require it starting July 1.
The National Center for Fair and Open Testing says Marlboro joins more than 750 four-year colleges around the country that no longer require standardized tests for admission.
The center says many colleges adopting the policy report that their applicant pools and student bodies are becoming more diverse, with no decline in academic quality.
