Readsboro is located on a remote stretch of Route 100 near the state's southern border. It has a proud industrial past and an equally proud connection to the Tyrolean Alps of northern Italy. Many folks in Readsboro worked for the now-decommissioned Yankee Atomic plant just over the border in Rowe Massachusetts. Others worked on the power dams on the Deerfield, which are now mostly automated. It's a town of steep rural hills and dense neighborhoods marked by strong community spirit. VPR's Susan Keese paid a visit to Readsboro and brings us this audio postcard.
