A soldiers return home from
the war front is cause for celebration.
But re-adjustment to civilian life can be a daunting prospect, both for service members and their loved ones.
A new book seeks to offer practical advice and coping strategies for dealing with both physical and psychological injuries.
"After The War Zone" was co-written by two Dartmouth College trauma experts, Dr. Matthew Friedman and Dr. Laurie Slone.
Dr. Friedman is Executive Director of the V.A. National Center for PTSD.
He spoke with VPR's Neal Charnoff about the book.
