Republican Karen Kerin has announced she is running for attorney general, hoping to unseat Democratic incumbent William Sorrell.
In a statement issued yesterday, Kerin faulted Sorrell on several fronts, saying he had unwisely criticized use of Taser shock weapons by police while excusing police use of firearms in what she called questionable circumstances.
Kerin also complained that Sorrell has not been aggressive enough in prosecuting alleged embezzlement by public officials, including the former sheriff of Windham County.
And Kerin faulted Sorrell for not doing a better job defending the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
