Symington won’t seek reelection in her district
House speaker Gaye Symington will not seek re-election this fall from her Chittenden County district that includes the towns of Jericho, Underhill and Bolton.
She made the announcement in the waning hours of the legislative session on Saturday.
The 54-year-old Democrat has said she's considering a run for governor, but wouldn't make a decision until after the legislative session.
Republican Governor Jim Douglas is seeking a fourth two-year term, and Progressive Anthony Pollina is also running.
