Tuesday April 29, 2008
Neal Charnoff

Colchester, VT

(Host) The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has appointed 17 people to the Vermont State Advisory Committee.

The committee operates under a two-year charter, and advises the federal agency on civil rights issues.

During the last charter, the Vermont committee called for the elimination of American Indian nicknames and images as sports mascots.

Curtiss Reed Jr. of Brattleboro has been appointed the chair of the current civil rights panel.

He spoke with VPR's Neal Charnoff.
