Interview: Author, Dennis McCullough on "My Mother, Your Mother"

What's the best way to care for aging parents in their senior years? That's a question many adult children must sooner or later wrestle with.

Some answers may be found in a new book written by Dr. Dennis McCullough, a geriatrician on the faculty of Dartmouth Medical School.

The book is called My Mother, Your Mother: Embracing Slow Medicine, the Compassionate Approach to Caring for Your Aging Loved Ones. Dr. McCullough offers practical advice for navigating through the stages of declining health. His theory of "slow medicine" argues that anticipatory, compassionate care can be more important than state-of-the-art medical intervention.

Dr. Dennis McCullough lives in Norwich. He spoke with VPR's Neal Charnoff about his book.
