In February 2006, after months of often heated public debate, the U.S. Forest Service approved a revised 15-year management plan for Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest. In December of that year, an Act of Congress established 40,000 new acres of wilderness in Vermont - land that's slated to remain 'forever wild.'
Meg Mitchell is the forest supervisor for the Green Mountain National Forest Supervisor. Chad van Ormer is Recreation Planner for the National Forest. They spoke with VPR's Jane Lindholm about how those changes are being implemented on the ground and what they mean for forest users.
