Audio Postcard: Glastenbury

Thursday, 04/17/08 2:24pm and 2:24pm

In the southwest corner of Vermont, the town of Glastenbury has just a handful of full-time residents. And it's where we stop today for our ongoing series of audio postcards from Vermont towns.

Glastenbury ceased to be an official town in 1937.  And since then it's developed an  eerie reputation.  Vermont ghost chronicler Joe Citro says early colonial settlers reported strange lights, sounds and odors in the area of Glastenbury. In this century, the local lore has focused more on strange disappearances.  VPR's Susan Keese filed this audio postcard.
