VT Edition Interview: Janet Ancel, Harold Giard & Don Collins on two controversial education bills

Friday April 11, 2008
Bob Kinzel

Two education bills are raising controversy at the Statehouse this legislative session. One would abolish the State Board of Education and elevate the commissioner's job to cabinet status. A second bill would repeal last year's measure that requires a town to vote twice before raising their school budget by a certain percentage. Calais Rep. Janet Ancel is the chairwomen of the House Education committee. Addison County senator Harold Giard is a member of the Senate Education committee. Don Collins chairs that committee. They spoke with VPR's Bob Kinzel about the bills.
