House Speaker Gaye Symington is considering running for governor.

The Jericho Democrat says people have been encouraging her to run, and that she's seriously considering it.

Republican Governor Jim Douglas, a three-term incumbent, is expected to seek re-election in the November 4 election. Anthony Pollina, a Middlesex Progressive is Douglas' only declared challenger.

Democrats have yet to field a candidate. Peter Galbraith of Townshend has also said he's considering a run.

Symington says she's focused on the legislative session now.
