Interview: Exploring democracy at Mountaintop Film Festival

Wednesday January 9, 2008
Neal Charnoff

Colchester, VT

This is the opening day of the 5th annual Mountaintop Film Festival in Waitsfield. The festival traditionally showcases socially and politically relevant films, along with public discussion forums.

The theme this year is "Why Democracy". Thirteen documentaries will be shown through Sunday, each in their own way exploring the complex questions of modern democracy around the globe.

One of the keynote speakers will be Robert Jensen, a professor of Journalism at the University of Texas.

He's written extensively on such subjects as foreign policy, politics and race.

He'll be speaking at the Mountaintop Film Festival Sunday at 7:00pm.

VPR's Neal Charnoff spoke with Robert Jensen from studios at KUT in Austin, Texas.
