First ski experience a memorable one for Martha Tormey

Tuesday December 11, 2007
Steve Zind

Colchester, VT

For many of us that very first ski experience is a memorable occasion. It was for comedian Martha Tormey.

Tormey was a young girl when her family moved from Maryland to Vermont. They were ill-equipped for the cold weather. Tormey remembers her outdoor wear consisted of a wind-breaker and a pair of faux leather, zip-up, stack-heeled boots.

So it's little wonder that her first trip to the slopes was less than comfortable. She told the tale in a recent stand up comedy routine in Montpelier.
