Audio Postcard: Danville, home to Kate Beattie's maple cream pie
Wednesday, 11/21/07 1:43pm and 1:43pm
Today, we travel north on Route 2 and stop in Danville. Just off the highway sits the Creamery Restaurant, and it's where one can sample 86-year-old Kate Beattie's maple cream pie. Beattie's family has lived in Danville since 1839. She grew up in the town, and in the farmhouse where she still lives. Most of her children also still live in Danville, and her daughter, Marion, manages the restaurant. Producer Sarah Ashworth sat down with Kate Beattie at the Creamery's counter and talked about life in Danville and her famous pie.
