Today our ongoing tour of Vermont towns takes us directly to the middle of the state: to the town of Rochester. In the middle of the town is a large park, called “The Green.” It’s home to Sunday night concerts all summer long, but the town is alive with music and theater most of the year. Rochester has its own chamber music society, and its own theater troupe.
Dick
and Dorothy Robson founded the White River Valley Players in 1979. The husband and wife team are singers,
actors, directors, and musicians, and though they technically live over the
hill in Hancock, they seem to be involved in most anything having to do with
the arts in Rochester—even helping organize the restoration of an old
theater. We met the couple at the Rochester cafe and visited some of the spots where they
perform.
