What's the best way to help communities determine the economic value of maintaining a wetlands area versus building a shopping
mall? How can different ecosystems be gauged in the most effective way?

Over the next year, meetings in Burlington will be held to describe what some University of Vermont researchers believe holds the answer - sophisticated sets of computer models that provide a portrait of ecosystem values for any location on earth.

Robert Costanza of UVM's Gund Institute for Ecological Economics spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the meetings.
