(Charnoff) Earlier today, the Massachussetts Supreme Court ruled that the state cannot deny gays and lesbians the right to marry.

In 1999, a Vermont Supreme Court decision led to a civil unions law, which allows same-sex couples the rights and benefits of marriage.

Here to talk about today's ruling is Tom Little, a former Vermont legislator and prime author of Vermont's civil unions law.

Mr. Little, can you compare the Vermont Supreme Court decision with today's ruling in Massachussetts?
