Interview: Humanities Council celebrates women's vote

(Mitch Wertlieb) It was 83 years ago Tuesday that one of the most fundamental rights inherent in any democracy was finally extended in America - to women. On August 26, 1920, the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified and women were given the right to vote.
The Vermont Humanities Council will mark the occasion with a talk on the suffrage movement and civil liberties by historian Marilyn Blackwell. Blackwell has a Ph.D. in history and has taught at several colleges including, the University of Vermont. Marilyn Blackwell, welcome to Morning Edition.
