(Host) Brian Dubie made it official Thursday. The Essex Junction resident says he will seek the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor this year. Dubie was the GOP candidate in this race two years and lost to Lieutenant Governor Doug Racine by roughly a 10-point margin.

Dubie says economic development issues will be his top priority. To highlight this point, he made his announcement in a vacant building once occupied by Champion JogBra ¿ a company that moved most of its operations out of state. Dubie, who is a commercial airline pilot, says the creation of new policies to stimulate job growth will be his primary campaign focus:

(Dubie) "You develop your priorities from listening and from traveling around the state. We lost a 1,000 jobs in my home town yesterday. In Essex Junction there's a lot of anxiety, there's some anger and there's some frightened people. And economic development, creating jobs and trying to at the same time¿ insuring that we maintain our all of Vermonters' commitment to a clean environment, trying to strike the balance and work towards those objectives is going to be the focus of the campaign."

(Host) Dubie says he looks forward to being part of an issue-oriented campaign with Democrat Peter Shumlin and Progressive Anthony Pollina.
