(Host) Authorities have determined that a Montpelier man found dead in Waitsfield last Friday was shot to death. Twenty-four year old Declan Lyons of Montpelier was killed while working at the American Flatbread Company.

State police Monday declined to release details of the investigation, but say they're treating it as a homicide. Authorities have asked to speak to anyone who was in the area of the flatbread company and a nearby swimming hole on Route 100. The swimming hole is several hundred yards from American Flatbread and not visible from the spot where Lyons was shot.

Officials declined to say whether they thought the shooting was accidental or intentional. George Schenk is the owner of American Flatbread. Schenk says police have told him they think the shooting was intentional.

Schenk says the shooting has had a profound effect on his close-knit group of employees. He says workers have gathered twice since the shooting to talk about Lyon's death.

(Schenk) "This morning we got together again as a group and discussed how people were doing, what they needed and how we as a group and as a company could imagine going forward and what it is that we needed to do."

(Host) Schenk says employees aren't fearful, but they are anxious to understand what happened to Lyons. Lyons had been an employee of American Flatbread for about two years. He lived in Montpelier.
