(Host) Norwich University is planning a new degree program that trains students in electronic security.

The Information Assurance and Security Technology major responds to the threat of industrial espionage, cyber-terrorism and other destructive uses of information technology.

University officials say that the United States' increasing dependence on electronic information systems has created a need for this specialized program of study.

The program includes topics related to law enforcement, computer forensics, and corporate information security, in addition to military strategies.

Norwich plans to offer the new major starting this fall.
