Thea Platt
Shelburne, VT
"Long-time listener and volunteer"
Vermont Public Radio is most grateful to long-time listener and volunteer Thea Platt. She has been listening to and supporting VPR for close to 25 years, originally from her home in Brookfield, and now in Shelburne.
Thea is an avid outdoorswoman and recently completed a 12-year project of hiking the Long Trail from end to end. One winter she and a friend took a ski lift to the top of Mt. Stark to spend the night. After the ski patrol left the hut to do the afternoon sweep they felt very alone, but Thea remembered that she had brought her radio with her. She tuned in to VPR and immediately felt comforted, as if she had a good friend nearby.
Thea has provided for VPR's future by including VPR in her estate plans, along with her family, friends and other local charities.
