Helen Eldred
Shelburne, VT
"A station by, for and from Vermont. "
VPR would like to acknowledge Helen Eldred of Shelburne, who provided for VPR's future in her estate plans. As a professional artist, Helen was a long-standing supporter of VPR and especially enjoyed Saturday Afternoon at the Opera. She created a trust which provides that the proceeds from the sale of her paintings will benefit VPR.
She died on Aug. 21, 2004. Her husband, Horace Eldred, who predeceased her, was enlisted by VPR's Ray Dilley to assist in photographing the contours of Mt. Mansfield from an airplane. In 2002 Helen wrote to VPR: "So looking back, Horace and I and other citizens helped to establish something so very good for Vermont: a station - VPR - by, for and from Vermont."
