Colchester, Vt. – The Vermont Garden Journal, a new, locally-produced weekly program premieres on Vermont Public Radio on Friday, April 23rd. The program will provide listeners with practical advice for successful organic gardening all season long, tackling a wide range of subjects like flowers, vegetables and landscaping.
Hosted by horticulturalist and VPR Commentator Charlie Nardozzi, each broadcast will focus on a topic that's relevant to both new and experienced gardeners, including pruning lilac bushes, growing blight-free tomatoes, groundcovers, sunflowers, bulbs, pests and more.
The two minute Journal will air Friday afternoons at 1:04 p.m. after Vermont Edition, and again Saturday mornings at 8:57 a.m. during Weekend Edition. The program will air seasonally, through October 9th. Gardeners can also go to VPR.net to listen, download, or read the text of each program, and find links to additional resources about each week’s topic.
“Listeners tell us that they appreciate regional programs that enhance their lives,” said John Van Hoesen, VPR’s vice president for news and programming. “The Vermont Garden Journal will be a useful and fun resource to sustain listeners through successes as well as the inevitable challenges in the garden.”
