Vermont Public Radio listener Yinong Young-Xu of White River Junction will be featured on NPR’s THIS I BELIEVE on Monday, March 5, 2007. His essay will air during ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, heard on VPR beginning at 4pm.
Young-Xu believes in our innate potential for brutality. It’s a belief shaped by his experience as a young child growing up at the end of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
Young-Xu emigrated from Shanghi to the United States when he was 16. He has a doctorate in epidemiology from Harvard and now researches Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in veterans. He is working now with Iraq war veterans at the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in White River Junction. Young-Xu visits China to help vaccinate children there against rotavirus.
