VPR Wins Award for Listener Testimonial

(Colchester, Vt., July 24, 2008) - - Vermont Public Radio has been honored with a My Source Radio Testimonials Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).

VPR Producer Franny Bastian won 3rd place in the national contest for her testimonial of listener James Woodward speaking about the importance of VPR's jazz programming in his life. She accepted the award last week at the Public Radio Development and Marketing Conference in Orlando, Florida, sponsored by DEI, the public radio resource for development professionals.

This is the first year of the My Source Radio Contest, which challenged stations to gather and produce creative, authentic, and meaningful listener testimonials that embody the core values of public radio. Listener testimonials are broadcast during membership drives to encourage other listeners to consider the value of public radio in their lives and pledge their financial support.

In all, DEI received 139 entries from 44 stations across the country. Entries were judged on their authenticity, creativity and impact.

"We're honored to be recognized with this award from CPB," said Robin Turnau, VPR's vice president for development. "VPR listeners are among the most loyal and supportive in the country. We’re both humbled and gratified that so many are willing to share what VPR means to them in order to encourage others to support VPR."
