VPR Classical Now Broadcasting at WVTI 106.9 FM Island Pond
October 14, 2008 - VPR Classical is now broadcasting at WVTI 106.9 FM from Brighton/Island Pond. This new transmitter provides Vermont Public Radio’s 24-hour classical music service to the Northeast Kingdom, serving the communities of Newport, Derby Line, Island Pond, Barton, Lyndonville, and surrounding towns.
WVTI is the fourth full-power transmitter for VPR Classical and is part of Vermont Public Radio’s ongoing effort to bring VPR Classical to more of the region. "We are thrilled to have been able to bring our VPR Classical signal to this area,” said VPR President Mark Vogelzang. “It's another tangible piece of the puzzle in place as we build out our classical service.”
VPR Classical also can be heard at 90.9 WOXR in the Champlain Valley, 88.1 WNCH in the Upper Valley, and 95.1 WVTQ in Sunderland/Manchester. Low-power translators are located at 93.5 Bennington, 103.9 Hanover, 106.9 Manchester, 99.5 Middlebury, 99.5 Newbury, 106.9 Woodstock, 93.3 Rupert, and 94.7 Bolton. VPR also maintains a high-quality internet stream for online access to VPR Classical, and via HD-digital radio channels across the region.
