Vermont Public Radio Wins National Public Radio News Awards

Vermont Public Radio's regional news coverage has been honored by Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI), a national service organization made up of public radio journalists. VPR won a first place award for news writing and second place for best newscast among the largest public radio stations in the country.Steve Zind's report on the first-ever Bug Camp at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science North Branch Nature Center in Montpelier was honored for outstanding writing. The feature includes interviews with a group of first through third graders attending the camp.
VPR's Midday Report was awarded second place for best newscast. Steve Delaney hosts the newscast, providing breaking Vermont news of the day, interviews with newsmakers, and a weekly update on Vermont's congressional delegation. A total of 90 awards were presented to 44 stations at the PRNDI Awards Banquet on July 22, 2006 in Los Angeles.
