Manager of Special Giving

Vermont Public Radio has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, detail oriented, self motivator who believes in the mission of public radio.

The Manager of Special Giving is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors who make gifts to a range of designated (restricted) opportunities and the annual giving program (unrestricted). In addition, the manager helps to plan and implement comprehensive, capital, and special fundraising campaigns as needed. This fundraising professional also coordinates the planned giving program, including management of the VPR Phillips Legacy Society.

Board Operator/Announcer

Vermont Public Radio has an immediate opening for a weekend part time Board Operator/Announcer. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, good vocal presentation and excellent communication skills. Candidate should enjoy working independently and be comfortable with adapting to changing technology. Must be available to work nights and holidays.

VPR is a statewide network, broadcasting news and classical music, and is one of the most listened to public radio stations in the nation. This position is based in our Colchester studios.

Internship with VPR News

VPR offers three-month internships three times a year to college students enrolled in B.A. programs who are interested in public radio news. Candidates should have a career interest in journalism and a demonstrated connection to Vermont. Students seeking college credit for production experience in a broadcast newsroom are encouraged to apply. The internship involves working on VPR's daily news magazine, Vermont Edition, and on daily newscasts. It is focused on researching news topics, pitching stories, learning basic audio production, and assisting in tasks that keep an active newsroom running smoothly.

Internships provide hands-on experience and as well as a great reward educationally, but VPR is unable to provide compensation for the internship.

One candidate may be selected for each three-month internship:

  • September-December:
    Application deadline is July 15, decision by August 1

  • February-April:
    Application deadline is November 15, decision by December 10

  • June-August:
    Application deadline is March 30, decision by April 10

The specific dates of the internship will be determined with the selected candidate. The number of hours worked per week will based on VPR’s need and the candidate’s credit requirements.

5. A journalism intern must uphold high standards for accuracy and public trust. Additionally, a public radio internship requires creativity and enthusiasm for public dialogue about news events. Why you are the right fit for this position?
