What is VPR's Green Drive?
Every membership drive is an opportunity for the VPR community to come together for a common goal: paying for the programming that benefits you and the region. During this drive, VPR is taking advantage of this strong community connection to make the Green Mountain state a little ‘greener.' We're taking steps to be more environmentally-friendly as an organization, in our fundraising, and as individuals. And we're providing opportunities for you to do the same. Explore our green pages to learn more about energy efficiency and sustainable living. And we hope you'll share with VPR what you're doing to live a greener lifestyle.
Why is VPR doing this?
VPR has been dedicated to the state of Vermont for more than 30 years. Part of our mission to be a positive force in the region is to do what we can to protect the environment, so the Vermont we cherish will be here for future generations to enjoy.
What has VPR done to be a greener organization?
VPR is making an unprecedented effort to be greener, and we enlisted the help of Efficiency Vermont for guidance on how to become more energy-efficient. Check out our video for a walk through VPR's Colchester studios with Efficiency Vermont.
In addition, VPR has made a commitment to convert our Colchester studios to renewable souces through Green Mountain Power's "Choose to be Green" program. We've eliminated thousands of wasted mailings by using a new electronic address correction program from the Postal Service. We use only post-consumer recycled paper. And we've stepped up our efforts to recycle and compost at the office.
How can I get involved?
Pledge online. It's a tree-free way to support VPR. Use your credit card and ask for an email confirmation of your pledge instead of a letter in the mail.
Choose one of VPR's environmentally-friendly thank you gifts, such as a VPR travel mug to use instead of take-out coffee cups, a set of reusable shopping bags, or a Vermont-made VPR tote bag. Or forgo a thank you gift and all of your contribution will go toward programming, and eliminate the resources used to package and ship it. Click here view all of the thank you gifts.
Become a sustaining member of VPR. Not only will your ongoing monthly contribution reduce the amount of mail you receive from VPR, you'll be helping to shorten membership drives.
