Olivier Messiaen

12/10/12 9:00AM By Walter Parker

French composer Olivier Messiaen was born December 10, 1908.  He's probably best known for his Quartet for the End of Time, written while he was in a German prison camp during World War II.  He was devoutly religious and many of his works have a powerfully mystical quality.  We'll listen today to such a work: Trois petites liturgies de la Presence Divine (Three little liturgies of the Divine Presence).
