Sometimes, to reach just the right bird-watching spot, you have to hike or travel great distances.

Other birding meccas are easily reached by cab or subway!

Right in New York's Central Park, bird lovers can enjoy 230 different bird species.

The park's busiest birding times are spring and fall, when you can find Baltimore Orioles--like the one pictured--Eastern King Birds and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers.

Many species choose to nest in Central Park in the summer, as well.
