This week Joel Najman's My Place program tells the story of music mogul Morris Levy, labeled by Variety "The Godfather" of the record business. As head of Roulette Records, Morris Levy released major hits by Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Rogers, Tommy James and others from the 1950's through the mid 1970's.
Recent books by Tommy James and Fredric Dannen have detailed the shady underbelly of Morris Levy's music empire, including why Morris was the inspiration for a character on the TV series "The Sopranos".
