On January 17, 2012 pioneer Rhythm & Blues impresario Johnny Otis passed away at age 90 at his California home. In a music career that began in the mid 1940's. Johnny Otis distinguished himself as a musician, bandleader, songwriter, record producer, talent scout and leader of some of the most energetic multi-artist touring R&B package shows in entertainment history. This week Joel Najman's My Place program celebrates Johnny Otis' nearly seven decade career in contemporary American popular music.
