What A Blast!

08/25/11 8:00AM

The whole show today isn't about trumpets - no, really! But there are a couple of interesting pieces you may enjoy if your preferences run more toward the brassy back row of the orchestra.

We'll hear Neruda's time-honored Concerto for Trumpet in a sparkling performance with Alison Balsom, and, Mahler's brilliant song, "Where the beautiful trumpets blow". For the grand finale of our 9am hour, it's Haydn's "Hornsignal" Symphony #31.

You may extract those earplugs now.
