This summer an audit of Vermont's expanded online Sex Offender Registry turned up serious problems with the accuracy of the information it contained.  In some cases, names that should have been listed on the registry did not appear.  In others, individuals were listed who shouldn't have been. Some information was found to be outdated. The audit raised questions about how well the registry serves its primary purpose:  protecting the public.

We talk with Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Tom Tremblay about the steps being taken to improve the registry in the wake of the audit. Listen

If you have comments about how the online Sex Offender Registry is maintained and used, write them below or email vermontedition@vpr.net.

Also, too many festivals and not enough weekends!  VPR music contributor Matt Bushlow samples a few of the many August music festivals in Vermont. Listen
